~ the way children hear it ~

"And forgive us our trash baskets
as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

The pastor at the church we often attend is doing a series on The Lord's Prayer.
There have been lots of lessons, big and small,
 . . . like the child's version of this prayer . . .
The "trash basket" quote actually holds quite a lesson for me!
Hanging on to "trash," my own or others, is not a good thing.

This requires a decision.

~ to pray ~

... for help with the messy parts of life...

... so that something beautiful can come from it ...
Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.
~Mark Twain

Remembering the One who taught us divine forgiveness.

Wishing you love, tenderness and peace
of heart, mind and soul.

Love,
       Maria

  4. Oh Maria, that was so beautiful. And as I get older, I am learning what a neighbor told my friend who was experiencing an ugly separation from her husband, but who is trying to get back together with him. The neighbor advanced in years said, "I have learned in my 50 years of marriage that there is just about nothing that you CAN'T forgive." Wow. Now that I am getting older, I think what good is there to hang on to fears that only exist in the mind, and that having a grudge is a waste of precious time on loan. THANK YOU FOR THIS MESSAGE! And for your visit sweet Maria! WE ARE GETTING SNOW TONIGHT so I hear ya about the slushy stuff....I hope you do not get any flooding! LOVE AND PEACE, Anita

  5. You must come as a child to enter the Kingdom of heaven... this is so sweet and yet profound. Adults complicate it... children let go and let God.

I'm so glad I was led to your blog. May I borrow the photo and quote for my blog sidebar, with your name for credit? Let me know, yes or no, is okay.

    Blessing, Dixie

  6. Hi Maria,
I was there and I had forgotten how "children hear it" as there were so many great messages that day, but, so glad that you have brought this one forward again and in such an inspirational way. Thank you!
    See you soon.

  7. Such a sweet analogy Maria. Forgiveness is such a gift for both the giver and the recipient.
I'll be praying for your son. I don't know Austin very well, but I can imagine it is all a bit overwhelming. Praying that he will find just the right place to call home.
Have a blessed Easter sweet friend.

  10. Sounds like a good series and such a good reminder...prayer, to let go of the trash and believe God for the beauty He will make from it.

  11. You've got to love a child's way of interpreting what he/she "hears"... and it gives us some good food for thought, too.

  14. I could just weep over the beauty and truth in this post! I agree! I just taught a year long series of prayer~ the part I found most profound was learning about forgiveness!
Lord, forgive the trashbaskets in my life!
This post has been a blessing, my friend!

  15. Hi Maria, I wanted to answer your kitchen questions.
I am keeping my cabinets white. And adding a white beadboard backsplash.
These are my original cabinets made in my garage by a local cabinet maker. I had 5 different firms in to give my ideas and an estimate on my kitchen, and every one said "DONT TOUCH THE CABINETS". They are like works of art, and they fit my farmhouse style home. I am having a couple of custom adjustments. Keep watching, as I share the final stages.
I LOVE my white kitchen. It does take extra upkeep to keep clean, but it is worth the extra work.
My soapstone trough sink was just delivered. I am in love!!!!!
    I'll keep you posted!
